How we use Balkan Plums here in the Village.
OK here were are, back in the sunshine.
And what happens to the plums is that they are distilled down to make a very fiery type of plum brandy or šljivovica (rakija).
Its entirely possible that with a good harvest, several hundred litres can be distilled.
The past years have seen the rakija making season as November/December time.
But it does depend on not only the weather and the harvest but also the availability of the mobile still that moves around the various properties in our local area.
