Welcome to Balkan Timelapsing

I don’t know what attracts me so much to watch short video clips of maybe 30-40 seconds (or even shorter), where the clouds seem to move faster than in real time and people move like in the “Keystone Cops” movies of the 1920’s.

Timelapsing, once a skill solely in the domain of professional movie makers, is now being practiced by everyday people, using apps on everyday smart phones and tablets.

The few things that need to be taken care of for a good ‘lapse is that the device’s camera is in focus (normally automated anyway) and a stable shot position propped up against something or mounted on a simple tripod.

There are a range of time lapse video app available for mobile devices but as I use an iPhone I prefer to use the timelapse capability that comes built in with the device.

In the image above all I have used apart from the iPhone 6 Plus, is a Joby Tripod with a simple grip for the phone and a wide angle “Ollo” clip on lens.

Simple, easy, cheap, but effective, in creating engaging content.

I have taken literally hundreds of timelapses here in the Balkans and published them, randomly on Instagram or my Facebook page.

Today I am going to start posting and archiving them here on the blog.

Do you like taking timelapses?

Would you like to know more about how to make time lapse videos?

If so please drop me a line, I would be glad to offer any advice I can 🙂
