Cheap Flights to Bosnia and Herzegovina
My friend Ian, another Englishman (recently resident here) in the Balkans, posted on Facebook that budget airline Wizz Air are about to open a twice weekly flight between Tuzla and London (Luton) from the start of November 2016.
Currently the only option to fly direct to BiH from the UK is via Heathrow or Gatwick with British Airways to Sarajevo.
There is an option for people like me living in the north of the country, and that’s to fly to Zagreb from Heathrow or Gatwick with either British Airways or Croatia Airlines.
Both the above are reasonably priced “out of season”, but increase dramatically during the summer months.
The cost of flying for just a few days for my UK based friends has meant they have found it too pricey.
But it looks like there’s a game changer in the wings.
The third “city” in Bosnia and Herzegovina is Tuzla (the city of salt).
Tuzla has a joint civilian and military airport and where the budget airline Wizz has been operating to and from for the last few years.
Wizz Air’s new route to the UK will operate on a Wednesday and Sunday. The cheapest fare on offer (for just cabin baggage and NOTHING else is 60 BAM (£30 approx) one way.
I meant that’s CHEAP.
If I need to use Sarajevo airport at the moment it’s a 4.5 hour car journey from the village here and Zagreb is 2.5 away.
Tuzla airport is 2.5-3 hours away so totally doable.
The flights start on 2 November and I will certainly be trying this new route out.
I will vlog that experience so you get to see things first hand.
Do you fly to BiH? Will you be using this new “Service”?
If you fly to Bosnia and Herzegovina for any reason keep checking back for my update.
